What do the following words mean to you?
Now get a friend to do the same thing. Chances are they’ll say something different for these words.
We use words all the time but do we know exactly how they’re being interpreted by our listeners? The word FAMILY may mean “a loving and supportive environment” to one person, to another it may mean “people who don’t understand me and argue with me constantly”. The brain interprets words according to your beliefs and values. That’s why when you have important work meetings or discussions with your partner or family, make sure you’re on the same page and know exactly what the other person means.
